What all to know about Google Algorithm Updates For 2015

The first major update in the Google Algorithm in late October was known as “RankBrain”. It introduced Artificial Intelligence learning and new technologies to the search engine. It also targeted websites using outdated on-page SEO techniques. The update caused a large outcry and was dubbed “Zombie”. Despite promises to avoid major changes during the holidays, webmasters were not spared the fallout.

The Hummingbird algorithm update affected 90 percent of queries around the world. This update also integrated location information with user searches and improved voice search processing. The changes made to the Google algorithm were based on what users were searching for and where they live. This meant more relevant results for searchers. However, this update has not been a complete overhaul of the search engine.

Google has rolled out more than 50 algorithm updates in 2015. These updates include Google’s Core Updates, which are essentially suggestions for future changes to its search algorithm. The “Helpful Content” update rolled out on 25th August and will take around two weeks to fully rollout. This update targets websites with low-quality content, including those with too many DMCA takedown requests. The update will impact approximately seven percent of English queries.

Google launched Google Places web pages in September 2009. They were originally part of Google Maps, but later became part of Local Business Center. This integrated Google Places pages with local search results and marketing options. The Vince algorithm update has had a positive impact on the search results, with some SEOs describing it as a “significant service” for big brands.

Another major change to Google’s algorithm was a YMYL algorithm. The aim of the update was to make the search experience more pleasant for users. Google’s new filters now remove websites that are irrelevant or redundant to the user’s search query. It’s also important to note that Google now takes mobile responsiveness into account when determining ranking position.

While the Core Update affected some sites negatively, others saw an increase. The update is designed to penalize low-quality and non-original content. It also affects websites that are written to generate search engine traffic. The new algorithm is similar to that of the March 2021 product review algorithm. The new update aims to improve Google’s search results by removing pages that are generating a lot of spam.

The first core update of the year came in January and affected traffic and rankings. Websites in the YMYL category were hit the hardest. Rankings in the YMYL category dropped significantly, while traffic increased slightly. Google implemented a couple of more updates in 2019, and they pushed for greater diversity in search results. The updates have also placed greater emphasis on websites that contain expert knowledge.
